The Challenge

Feedwell operates as a local catering business serving the Sydney area, but the existing website lacked a proper delivery and ordering setup to support this model. Customers were able to place orders outside the intended delivery zones, creating confusion and extra manual handling for the team.

Delivery fee management was also limited and didn’t fully reflect the business’s real-world requirements. Different delivery areas and conditions needed more flexibility than the system allowed.

In addition, the business required support for multiple customer types — including approved clients who place orders without immediate payment and settle invoices later under agreed terms. This workflow wasn’t properly supported, making the ordering process inefficient and difficult to manage at scale.

Feedwell project and its challenges

Customer Ordering Experience

What customers see and interact with during the ordering process.

The new cart and checkout experience was designed to make complex catering orders simple and intuitive. Customers can manage multiple delivery times, products, and order types within a single, easy-to-use interface.

Features include:

  • Delivery Slot Management

Customers can create multiple delivery slots within a single order, each with its own delivery date, time window, and product selection.

  • Cart Drag & Drop

A custom drag-and-drop experience allows products to be easily moved between delivery slots.

  • Delivery Slot Controls

Delivery slots can be duplicated or removed directly within the cart, making complex orders easy to manage.

  • Product Management in Cart

Products can be moved, copied, or deleted within the cart, giving full control over order structure.

Business Rules & Order Validation

Behind-the-scenes logic that ensures every order follows business rules.

To support Feedwell’s catering operations, a rules-driven validation system was implemented to control delivery availability, pricing requirements, and order cut-off times — reducing errors and manual intervention.

Features include:

  • Delivery Slot Validation

Each delivery slot is validated against business rules such as minimum order values, product restrictions, delivery cut-off dates and times, and postcode-based availability.

  • Postcode Validation in Cart

Delivery availability is validated based on the selected postcode and suburb, including supported delivery days.

  • Pickup Order Validation

Pickup orders are validated based on selected location, day of the week, and cut-off times, with support for multiple pickup locations.

… and many more supporting features designed to scale with the business.

Using ACF PRO the page layouts are tailored to the business needs and still allowing for content editing without a developer input.

  • SEO-friendly, fast-loading pages
