  • Business name is missing

Google requires it. Use the name customers know you by — the same as your Google Business Profile.

  • Address is incomplete

Add your street address, suburb and state. Google requires an address — or tick “Service-area business” if customers don't visit you.

  • Add your postcode

Google uses it to match your listing to the right area.

  • Add your website address

Google recommends linking the business to its website.

  • Add a phone number

Google recommends a phone number customers can call.

  • Add a photo

Google recommends photos of your business — ideally several high-resolution shots in 16:9, 4:3 and 1:1 shapes.

  • Add a price range

Recommended by Google. Pick the $ level that fits, or skip it if it doesn't suit your business.

  • Add map coordinates

Latitude and longitude pin your exact spot. In Google Maps, right-click your business and click the numbers to copy them.

  • No social profiles yet

Optional: linking your profiles helps Google connect them to your business.

  • Star ratings aren't included

Google ignores reviews a business marks up about itself, and fake reviews break its rules. Let real reviews build up on your Google Business Profile.

Next step: test it

Once it's on your site, run the page through Google's test — or paste the code straight in.

Where to paste itShow

Add it once, on your home page or contact page — not on every page.

  • WordPress: a header/footer code plugin (e.g. WPCode), or your theme's header settings.
  • Shopify: Online Store → Themes → Edit code → theme.liquid, just before </head>.
  • Wix / Squarespace: Custom code or Code injection, in the header.
  • Next.js and others: inside the page's <head> (or anywhere in the body — Google reads both).
